National Asthma Educator Foundation Seeking Nominations for New Board of Directors
4/14/2006
The National Asthma Educator Foundation (NAEF) is extremely pleased to announce the first call for nominations for the Board of Directors. The NAEF was incorporated in November 2005 by the National Asthma Educator Certification Board (NAECB) to provide scholarship and research opportunities for the asthma educator community. To date, there are over 1,450 Certified Asthma Educators (AE-CŪ) in the United States and Puerto Rico. The primary activities of the Foundation will be to provide scholarships to potential NAECB candidates, seek out research opportunities, and promote the work of Certified Asthma Educators (AE-CŪ).
As part of the success of this Foundation, the nominating committee must ensure that each director position is filled with enthusiastic, competent individuals that will complement the current board. In accordance with the NAEF bylaws, the nominating committee must develop and present a list of nominees to the voting members of the NAEF for a vote each fall. Therefore, we need your assistance in identifying individuals that you believe would be an asset to the Board of Directors. The individuals you recommend may include but are not limited to the following: Lay workers in asthma Lawyers interested in public service Individuals with an interest in foundations Professionals with fundraising/development experience Individuals with experience in foundations or non-profit
When submitting your recommendation, please include the name, phone number and other contact information. You are also asked to provide a short statement of no more than three sentences about why you are recommending this particular individual. The Board does not discriminate based on religion, sex, gender, disability, or race. Self nominations are accepted.
Please contact Lisa Overman, Administrative Director at loverman@naecb.org or 202-785-3355 for the recommendation form. Return the form to NAEF, 1150 18th St. NW, Suite 900, Washington, DC 20036. This allows the Nominating committee ample time to carefully review all recommendations and determine which individuals will be asked to submit an application for further review. The form may be faxed to Lisa Overman, Administrative Director, at (202) 452-1805.
